Real Madrid to restart contract negotiations with Arsenal target Vinicius Jr

Real Madrid is preparing to resume contract extension talks with Vinicius Jr this week as Arsenal maintains a strong interest in the Brazilian forward.

Vinicius Jr arrived back at Real Madrid this past Monday to complete his pre-season physical following his time with the Brazilian national team at the World Cup. He is expected to begin fresh contract discussions with the club this week, even as Arsenal continues to monitor the situation closely.

The Gunners view the Brazilian attacker as their primary option to strengthen their left wing should his current contract status remain stagnant. Despite interest from North London, uncertainty lingers regarding his actual availability this summer. Real Madrid and the player’s management have been negotiating for a year and a half, with his current deal slated to conclude in 2027.

Currently, the winger is participating in his first pre-season training sessions under new head coach Jose Mourinho. Reports indicate that Mourinho is eager for the player to solidify his long-term commitment to the club. While the 26-year-old has publicly expressed his desire to stay at the Bernabeu, his contract situation creates pressure for Real Madrid to secure an agreement quickly to avoid the risk of losing a valuable asset.

Negotiations have previously hit roadblocks concerning salary expectations and the player’s perceived status within the squad. The forward reportedly seeks financial recognition as the team’s premier star, though Real Madrid president Florentino Perez maintains a strict wage structure that currently lists Kylian Mbappe as the top earner. If an agreement is not reached soon, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remains prepared to pursue the player, seeing him as a vital acquisition to elevate his squad after their recent Premier League title success.
