The pairings were established on Monday at the governing body’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, with teams categorized into the champions path and the league path.
Key matchups include Scottish title-holders Celtic going up against Austria’s LASK. AEK Athens is slated to compete against either Levski Sofia or Kairat Almaty. Other contests involve the victors of the Dinamo Zagreb versus Žalgiris tie facing Norway’s Viking, while the winner between Mjällby and Slovan Bratislava will meet either Ararat-Armenia or Celje. Additionally, Hapoel Be’er Sheva or Red Star Belgrade will challenge Aarhus or Sabah, and either Fenerbahce or Sturm Graz will battle Sparta Prague or Lyon. The final matchup features the winner of the Olympiacos-NEC Nijmegen tie against either Union Saint-Gilloise or Bodø/Glimt.
First leg matches are set for August 18 and 19, with the return games following on August 25 and 26. Successful teams advance to the Champions League league phase, while those that lose move into the Europa League league phase. The league phase draw is scheduled for August 27 in Monaco.
