A former councillor from Riyom Local Government Area in Plateau State, Daniel Danjuma, was fatally shot on Sunday night during an attack on Rim Community. Danjuma, widely recognized by his moniker Hon. Star, served as the representative for Rim Ward.

Twang Tengwong, spokesperson for the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), verified the event in an official statement. The group reported that a large group of armed individuals entered the Torok village within Rim Community at approximately 10:45 pm on August 2, 2026, initiating gunfire. The BYM, led by National President Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, labeling the violence as intolerable.

Reports suggest the assailants arrived from a location identified as Kess, also known as Bangai-Fulani, firing their weapons indiscriminately. Beyond the death of Danjuma, another individual, David Dachollom Danjuma, suffered severe gunshot wounds before the perpetrators escaped the scene.

The BYM has urged the Plateau State Government and regional security forces to apprehend the attackers and bring them to justice. The organization also offered its sympathies to the grieving families and the residents of Torok.
