Authorities at the Kano State Hisbah Board have taken TikTok personality Namadina Tudunwada into custody. The arrest follows allegations that the creator promoted illicit sexual activity among youths via his online videos.
Mujahid Aminuddeen, the deputy commander-general for the board, confirmed the news on Monday. According to officials, Tudunwada was apprehended in the Tudunwada Local Government Area after a clip went viral. In the footage, he contrasted the price of marriage, estimated at N200,000, with the lower cost of engaging in fornication, which he pegged at N2,000.
The Hisbah Board stated that this comparison serves to push young people away from matrimony by painting illicit relationships as a more affordable alternative. They maintain that the content encourages moral decay. The board intends to conduct a thorough investigation to determine further legal consequences. Meanwhile, they have cautioned digital influencers to exercise responsibility and avoid sharing content that clashes with local social and religious standards.
