Murder Suspect Luigi Mangione’s Grandmother Left Family $30 Million in Will, But He May Never See a Penny
The grandmother of UnitedHealthcare CEO murder suspect Luigi Mangione, philanthropist Mary C. Mangione, left her family at least $30 million in her will.
However, she specified that anyone who is “charged, indicted, convicted of, or pleads guilty to a felony” would be excluded from receiving such benefits.
Mary C. Mangione, who amassed her wealth through a trust, ensured that her 10 children, including Luigi’s father, Louis, would have access to it upon her passing in 2023. The will, which has been reviewed by multiple US news outlets, clearly outlines these conditions.

The Baltimore millionaire included a stipulation in her will to disinherit any heirs charged with “heinous” or “violent” crimes, which could result in Luigi, 26, being cut off from his inheritance for allegedly killing Brian Thompson, a father of two.
“It is my precatory desire that the Trustees particularly consider invoking their discretion to implement this Section if the felony is a common law felony, a statutory felony if it is the codification of a common law felony, a heinous felony, any felony involving a physically violent act against another person or property or any drug related felony involving distribution or intent to distribute any type of drug or illegal substance,” the will states.

The will stipulates that the decision to disinherit anyone convicted of such crimes is “conclusive, final, and binding on everyone.”
This section of the will repeatedly emphasized Mary’s desire to keep her estate away from any potentially unsavory family members.
While Mary’s estate is believed to be valued at a minimum of $30 million, the will suggests its total worth could approach $100 million, though it does not specify the exact amount left behind.
Her family wealth enabled Luigi to attend the prestigious Gilman School, followed by the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League institution.
Luigi, who was arrested on Monday, has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, including murder and gun possession.
