Wolimoh Olajide Epe has stepped down from his position as the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) National Vice Chairman for the South West zone. His departure arrives well before the 2027 general elections. In his formal resignation letter to National Chairman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Epe highlighted his dissatisfaction with the party’s fading political influence and its lack of clear direction on a national scale.
Epe noted that this choice was not made quickly. He reached his conclusion after extensive discussions with his supporters, political partners, and stakeholders. He explained that continuing his tenure with the PRP would contradict his personal political objectives. Throughout his history with the organization, Epe has held several roles, including committee member and National Youth Leader.
Despite his years of service, Epe believes the PRP has struggled to transform into a competitive national force capable of securing federal power. He pointed to a shared sentiment among his followers that the party currently lacks the ambition and urgency required to be a significant political entity. According to Epe, the organization has drifted away from active campaigning, operating more as a discussion group rather than a functional vehicle for governance. He concluded his statement by urging the leadership to consider his feedback and adjust their strategy to ensure future relevance.
