The Olojo Kosoko Ruling House of Lagos has formally challenged the current occupation of the Oloja of Lagos Palace. Leadership from the house, including Prince Surajudeen Abiodun Olojo-Kosoko and Secretary Prince Theophilus Olojo-Kosoko, stated that these actions directly ignore a July 7, 2026, injunction from the Lagos State High Court.
Justice Oresanya previously ruled that all sides involved in the chieftaincy conflict must keep the status quo while the primary case remains unresolved. Despite this, the family reports that police are currently blocking legitimate residents and guests from entering the palace while seemingly shielding unauthorized individuals on the premises.
The family also reported that Prince Abiola Olojo-Kosoko, designated as the Oloja of Lagos-elect, has received police summons linked to these same parties. Prince Surajudeen warned that this situation threatens public safety on Lagos Island and urged law enforcement to avoid participating in a civil dispute.
Characterizing the current situation as an abuse of power and contempt of court, the ruling house has requested that the Lagos State Police Command remove their personnel from the site. They have notified multiple high-ranking officials, including the Commissioner of Police and the Inspector-General of Police, by submitting official documentation of the court’s order. The family remains hopeful that the police hierarchy will act to maintain legal standards and preserve peace.
