In Enugu State, Adolphus Ude, a prominent figure within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has taken issue with Anambra Governor Charles Soludo for lauding President Bola Tinubu’s recent road project approvals in the Southeast. Ude, who represents the ADC Like-Minds group, argued that Soludo failed to name a single road project actually finished by the current administration in the region.
The governor’s appreciation was specifically directed at the federal government’s decision to proceed with design and procurement for two major routes: the 108-kilometre Otuocha–Anam–Abaji road and the 150-kilometre Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube road. While Governor Soludo viewed these approvals as a positive sign of infrastructure development, Ude dismissed the praise as premature, as the work remains in the planning phase rather than at a stage of completion.
Ude suggested that regional governors are prioritizing political appeasement over demanding genuine accountability from the federal government. He further contended that the Southeast has been overlooked in national infrastructure investment compared to other zones. Ude challenged leadership in the region to prioritize tangible progress for their constituents, noting that his party, the ADC, intends to champion a more equitable distribution of federal resources should they come into power by 2027.
