Law enforcement authorities are set to bring Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, before the Federal High Court this Tuesday. Adeyemi and two co-defendants face an eight-count charge including forgery and impersonation, as detailed in legal documents filed by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki on November 27, 2025.
The proceedings were previously stalled on June 16 when Justice Mohammed Umar granted an adjournment because Adeyemi was ill. The prosecution plans to call several witnesses, including Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, various government officials, and individuals who worked for the purported agency. Evidence to be presented includes a petition from Gbajabiamila, a fraudulent appointment letter, and various documents related to the establishment of the fake council at the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja.
President Bola Tinubu has ordered the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to perform a comprehensive investigation into the organization, with a 30-day deadline for the report.
