INEC Pushes Back Voter Registration Deadline to July 26 and Unveils Online Portal

INEC has extended the Continuous Voter Registration deadline in Taraba State to July 26 and launched a new online portal for self-service registration.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Taraba State has formally shifted the end date for its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) initiative. Originally slated to conclude on July 10, 2026, the exercise will now remain active through July 26, 2026. This adjustment stems from a comprehensive national assessment intended to broaden access for citizens ahead of future elections.

Ngunan Rachael Iyongo, who leads the Voter Education and Publicity Department, confirmed the extension in a Saturday press statement. She emphasized that the move aims to promote fairness and ensure that all eligible voters have the chance to be included in the national registry.

Alongside the extension, the commission has debuted a digital self-service portal at https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/, which becomes active on July 8, 2026. This system allows individuals to perform their own registration, including biometric data submission, from personal smartphones or laptops, removing the need for in-person visits to INEC facilities. Detailed instructions are available on the website to guide users through the process. INEC continues to encourage all unregistered Taraba residents to utilize these resources to participate in the democratic process.
