Federal Government Rolls Out N10 Billion Medical Supply Package for Bauchi State

The Federal Government has launched a N10 billion medical support initiative in Bauchi State, providing hospitals with advanced equipment, ambulances, and essential medications to enhance healthcare delivery.

The Nigerian government has officially launched the deployment of medical apparatus, ambulances, vital medications, and various healthcare supplies worth N10 billion to boost medical services throughout Bauchi State. The rollout ceremony occurred on Saturday at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, with Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, presiding over the event alongside state officials.

Minister Pate emphasized that this effort aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader strategy to fortify primary healthcare nationwide. Similar assistance has reached 35 other states, targeting infrastructure improvements and workforce training. According to the minister, federal health programs are currently serving over 45 million citizens every three months.

Bauchi has seen substantial federal investment, including upgrades to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Azare and the creation of the National North-East Vesicovaginal Fistula Centre. Furthermore, over 100 primary healthcare centers have undergone renovations through state and federal collaboration. The new package includes 20 fully equipped primary healthcare centers and 20 facilities restocked with essential drugs, plus 21 ambulances and 17,000 maternity kits.

The Minister issued a stern warning against the theft or misuse of these supplies, noting that all items are tracked and offenders will face legal action. Deputy Governor Muhammad Awwal Jatau, speaking for Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, praised the initiative and highlighted the state’s ongoing efforts to improve health services and combat malnutrition. Prof. Bara Yusuf Jibrin, Chief Medical Director of ATBUTH, promised that the equipment would be distributed fairly and maintained to ensure high-quality care.
