Authorities in Adamawa State have taken four men into custody following a violent robbery at a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) residence in Yola. The incident occurred on June 27, 2026, at the lodge situated near the Specialist Hospital in the Jimeta district.
The suspects include 17-year-old Elkana Ishaya, 22-year-old Mubarak Abubakar, 30-year-old Musa Umar, and 20-year-old Kabiru Tanko. According to State Police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje, the group used weapons to breach the facility and dispossessed 36 corps members of their personal belongings, such as cellular phones.
Police investigators from the Karewa Area Command managed to locate the suspects and successfully retrieved four of the stolen devices. The detainees now face charges related to armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of weapons, and trespassing. Commissioner of Police Kabiru Umar Hassan emphasized that the department remains dedicated to ensuring the safety of all service members assigned to the region. Law enforcement continues to search for remaining suspects involved in the crime and is actively working to recover the rest of the missing property.
