Adesina Attributes Nigeria’s Stagnation to Corruption and Ineffective Leadership

Former presidential aide Femi Adesina contends that Nigeria’s vast potential remains untapped due to pervasive corruption and a history of ineffective political leadership.

Femi Adesina, who served as the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former President Muhammadu Buhari, recently identified corruption and subpar leadership as the primary obstacles preventing Nigeria from progressing.

Addressing attendees at an annual public lecture hosted by the Foursquare Gospel Church in Oluyole, Oyo State, Adesina noted that the nation possesses all the ingredients for success. He cited the country’s abundant natural wealth, productive land, strategic positioning, and a vibrant youth demographic as key advantages.

Despite these assets, he argued that the nation has failed to convert its potential into tangible prosperity. Adesina highlighted the widespread frustration among the younger generation, who continue to struggle with limited employment opportunities and a declining standard of living.

He pointed out that historical and current political promises have frequently gone unmet. Consequently, he called upon those in power to align their rhetoric with concrete actions so that the population can finally reap the benefits of the nation’s vast resources.
