Soldiers under Operation Enduring Peace successfully stopped a group of suspected Fulani bandits from carrying out an attack in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The military intervention followed reports of gunfire near the Banasu High Ground on July 2.
According to an official army statement, Sector 8 troops stationed at Gyambwas mobilized immediately after receiving distress signals. Investigators believe the assailants intended to retaliate against local militia members who had previously raided livestock. Upon arriving at the scene, the soldiers engaged the armed group in a gunfight.
The soldiers’ superior combat capability forced the attackers to flee into the nearby hills. Military officials confirmed that no soldiers were injured during the confrontation. Currently, surveillance remains high in the area as patrols search for the escaped suspects to ensure future stability. The operation is part of a broader security initiative aimed at neutralizing militia threats and protecting civilians across Plateau State.
