Youth Minister Denies Change to NYSC Uniform

Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande clarifies that the NYSC has not adopted a new uniform following public confusion over his recent comments on potential design proposals.

Ayodele Olawande, the Minister of Youth Development, has officially denied that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has selected a new uniform. Recent rumors suggested the agency had adopted Adire fabric, but the minister confirmed no such decision exists.

Addressing the confusion caused by his recent appearance on Channels Television, Olawande clarified that his mention of Adire and Ankara fabrics were merely potential examples being discussed during reform consultations. He emphasized that no specific design or material has been approved to replace the current attire.

The minister explained that the government is evaluating several factors, such as durability, cost-effectiveness, and professional identity, before finalizing any changes. He noted that the ongoing NYSC reform initiative focuses on broader goals, including enhancing entrepreneurship, improving youth employability, and fostering national integration. Olawande urged the public to focus on the comprehensive benefits of these reforms rather than fixating on the uniform, promising that future decisions will involve thorough stakeholder input.
