Ebonyi State Outpaces South-East in Voter Registration Progress, Says APC Official

Ebonyi State is currently leading the South-East in voter registration for the 2027 elections, according to state APC chairman Stanley Okoro Emegha.

Stanley Okoro Emegha, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman for Ebonyi State, announced that the state currently ranks first in the South-East region for the voter registration drive preceding the 2027 general elections. Emegha credited this success to a coordinated effort by state stakeholders to keep registration numbers high.

Speaking to reporters in Abakaliki following a meeting on Tuesday, Emegha confirmed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) granted the state additional registration hardware to resolve equipment deficits. Officials successfully requested more machines from INEC headquarters, which have since been distributed to local governments and higher education campuses. To ensure maximum participation, authorities are actively reaching residents who cannot travel to their local polling units.

Emegha emphasized that the primary goal is ensuring all citizens are registered, regardless of their political affiliation. He stressed the importance of Ebonyi residents being counted in the national total, noting that political discussions regarding specific candidate support will take place only after the registration phase concludes.
