Armed attackers killed two police officers and left three others wounded in Rivers State on Monday evening. The violence occurred near Mbodo Village in the Aluu Community, located within the Ikwere Local Government Area. The officers were performing a standard stop-and-search duty when the occupants of a vehicle suddenly fired upon them.
Two policemen died immediately at the site, while the injured were transported to a medical facility for urgent care. Blessing Agabe, the police spokesperson and Assistant Superintendent, confirmed the event on Wednesday. She noted that the Commissioner of Police personally inspected the crime scene and visited the surviving officers in the hospital. A major investigation is underway to track down the assailants and hold them accountable for the attack.
