Abia State Authorities Initiate Search for Kidnapped Pupils

The Abia State government is working with regional security forces to locate two pupils abducted by a tricycle operator, while also providing relief to victims of a recent oil pipeline explosion in Owaza.

The Abia State administration has confirmed that it is actively pursuing the recovery of two students who were kidnapped last week in Umuosu Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, by a tricycle driver. During a press briefing at the Government House in Umuahia, Navy Commander McDonald Ubah (Rtd), the Special Adviser on Security to Governor Alex Otti, stated that the state is collaborating with security agencies in surrounding regions to locate the children. Authorities currently suspect the incident is linked to human trafficking. Commander Ubah also urged parents to remain vigilant regarding their children’s activities and locations.

Separately, Commissioner for Information Okey Kanu addressed the recent pipeline explosion in the Owaza community. He noted that the government has distributed emergency aid to impacted residents and that officials from the petroleum and environmental departments have inspected the scene. The state has pledged to implement measures to prevent future pipeline disasters. Additionally, the administration announced that new road construction projects have been commissioned across the state.
