Trump Reports Iranian Assurance Against Strait of Hormuz Tolls

President Trump announced that Iran has pledged not to impose tolls on ships in the Strait of Hormuz during ongoing peace negotiations.

President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that Iran has provided guarantees that vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz will not face any financial levies. This development occurs amid ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at establishing a permanent peace in the Middle East.

Writing on his Truth Social account, Trump noted that Tehran promised that no tolls, insurance premiums, or miscellaneous charges would be imposed on ships navigating the waterway. It remains unclear if these promises extend beyond the current 60-day window for negotiations.

Previously, Iranian officials had indicated intentions to implement what they described as maritime service fees for transiting the strait, a policy the United States has strongly contested. Furthermore, Iran and Oman announced on Tuesday that they intend to analyze the expenses associated with managing the strait, maintaining their stance on sovereign control over the passage.
