Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate for the Nigerian Democratic Congress, has launched a lawsuit against Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church. This legal move stems from statements the cleric made regarding Kwankwaso’s reputation.
The legal firm representing the former Kano State governor, Magaji Mato Ibrahim, SAN & Co., published a formal letter on X demanding that the preacher provide a public apology and retract his claims. These accusations originated from a video broadcast during a live church service, where the primate questioned the integrity of Kwankwaso in his role as Peter Obi’s running mate.
Primate Ayodele previously suggested that Kwankwaso would become a liability to Obi’s electoral success. The legal notice highlights specific inflammatory remarks, including claims that the former governor was a fraud who intended to betray his political partner for financial gain. Kwankwaso’s legal representatives characterize these statements as libelous and harmful to his professional standing.
