Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress flagbearer for the 2027 presidential race, has appeared at the Federal High Court in Abuja as his legal proceedings move forward. The Sahara Reporters publisher was transported to the courthouse from the Kuje correctional facility, where he has been held in custody.
This follows a decision on Monday by Justice Mohammed Garba Umar, who directed that Sowore remain incarcerated while the court reviews his motion to challenge the revocation of his bail and the issuance of a bench warrant. The Department of State Services initially apprehended Sowore before transferring him to prison authorities.
Upon reaching the court on Wednesday, Sowore appeared composed and was observed chatting with legal counsel. Meanwhile, a crowd of his supporters and fellow activists gathered at the court location to monitor the developments. The DSS is currently pursuing charges against Sowore for purportedly labeling President Bola Tinubu a criminal in publications on social media platforms.
