Ahmadu Fintiri secures APC senatorial nomination for Adamawa North

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has won the APC senatorial primary for Adamawa North, securing over 160,000 votes across five local government areas.

Election Outcome

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has officially claimed the All Progressives Congress senatorial ticket for the Adamawa North district. Wilfred William, the primary election returning officer, confirmed the results on Tuesday following a collation process in Mubi-North.

The voting took place throughout five local government areas: Madagali, Maiha, Michika, Mubi North, and Mubi South. Out of 174,514 accredited ballots, Fintiri received 160,579 votes. His opponents, Hamisu Medugu and Abdulrahaman Kwacham, finished with 6,977 and 6,958 votes, respectively.

Broader Party Developments

Following this result, Fintiri was formally declared the winner for the zone. Earlier that day, Dr. Felix Tangwami, who previously served as Fintiri’s Commissioner of Health, was declared the nominee for the Adamawa South senatorial district. Meanwhile, the primary election for the Adamawa Central district was deferred and did not occur as originally scheduled.
