Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner Sue Ray J Over Racketeering Claims
Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner have filed a defamation lawsuit against Ray J after the singer publicly alleged they were targets of a federal racketeering investigation.
The lawsuit, filed by high-profile attorney Alex Spiro, comes in response to statements Ray J made earlier this year in TMZ’s United States vs. Sean Combs documentary, as well as remarks he repeated during a September 24 livestream that drew millions of viewers.
“Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have never brought a defamation claim before … but this false and serious allegation left no choice,” Spiro said in a statement, according to People.
Court documents accuse Ray J of waging a “sustained campaign of harassment and defamation” against Kardashian and Jenner for more than 20 years, dating back to his brief relationship with Kim in the early 2000s.
Lawyers for Kardashian and Jenner argue that Ray J’s statements were made with “reckless disregard for the truth” and constitute “malicious defamatory conduct.” They stress that no such federal investigation exists.
Ray J and Kardashian have had a turbulent history since their split in 2005, marked by the leak of their infamous sex tape, his controversial 2013 track I Hit It First, and recurring public disputes.
This lawsuit marks the first time either Kardashian or Jenner has taken legal action over defamation, underscoring the seriousness with which they view Ray J’s latest allegations.
