One Killed, Three Injured As FCT Police Command Foil Robbery Attempt

The FCT Police Command successfully thwarted a robbery attempt in the Zone E Extension of Apo Resettlement, Abuja, on the night of June 23, 2025, around 10:30 p.m.

According to reports, the Divisional Police Officer of the Apo Division, CSP Uchenna Igwebuike, responded promptly to a distress call from a commercial motorcyclist in the area.

Upon arrival, the police team engaged the armed robbers in a fierce gun battle. A reinforcement team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP Isyaku Sharu, soon joined, deploying superior firepower that forced the suspects to flee into the nearby hills.

A joint manhunt involving police officers and local vigilantes is currently underway to apprehend the fleeing criminals.

Confirming the incident, police spokesperson CSP Josephine Adeh said three individuals were rescued during the operation, all of whom had sustained varying degrees of injuries. A light green Toyota Corolla with registration number GWA 620 AU, reportedly belonging to one of the victims, was also recovered at the scene.

‘’All injured persons were immediately evacuated to Sahad Hospital, Apo Resettlement, for emergency medical care. Sadly, one of the victims later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical personnel. His remains have been deposited in the hospital morgue.” she said.

CSP Josephine Adeh added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, extends his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and reassures residents of the FCT that the Command remains fully committed to safeguarding lives and property across the Territory.

The CP also called on the public—particularly residents of Apo Resettlement and surrounding communities—to report anyone found with gunshot wounds or suspicious injuries to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 or 08028940883.

He further urged citizens to stay vigilant, remain law-abiding, and continue cooperating with the police in the ongoing fight against crime and criminality.
