OPay has expanded its 10-year scholarship program to include Kwara State Polytechnic, supporting 20 students with N300,000 each.
Dauda Gotring, the Managing Director/CEO of OPay, expressed the company’s dedication to fostering the future of Nigeria’s youth through education. He highlighted that the expansion of OPay’s 10-year scholarship initiative to Kwara State Polytechnic underscores the company’s commitment to easing the financial challenges students face, enabling them to focus on their studies and personal development. The scholarship programme, valued at N1.2 billion, aims to empower students by providing them with the financial resources they need for academic success.
“Our scholarship support is to ensure that the dreams of talented scholars do not die,” Gotring said. “Through this 10-year scholarship program, we’re not just easing the financial stress of today’s students, we are empowering a generation that will drive innovation and progress.”
OPay’s N1.2 billion scholarship plan is designed to support 400 students annually across Nigeria, spanning a 10-year period. The initiative aims to provide financial assistance to both polytechnic and university students, helping them overcome financial barriers and focus on their education. This move is part of OPay’s broader commitment to investing in Nigeria’s future by empowering the next generation of leaders through educational support.
The Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Abdul Mohammed, expressed his gratitude for the scholarship program’s introduction to the institution, stating its transformative impact on the students who will benefit.
“We thank OPay for bringing the scholarship to Kwara State Polytechnic as this will have a huge impact on the students being awarded, giving them the motivation to excel in their academics and beyond,” Mohammed said.
