LAGRIDE Operator Alleges Fabricated ₦1.3 Million Debt Following Payment Disputes
A LAGRIDE driver has accused the Lagos State ride-hailing company of creating a false ₦1.3 million debt against him. The driver claims this action was taken as retaliation after he persistently requested unpaid earnings.
During an interview aired by Nigeria Info FM, the driver stated he has received no compensation since October. Over a five-month period, he generated an estimated ₦9 million in revenue, averaging ₦1.8 million monthly, while consistently hitting performance targets.
The driver detailed a pattern where the debt figures increased rapidly following his inquiries about his money.
He noted the debt jumped from ₦375,000 to ₦380,000, then to ₦800,000 and ₦1.1 million. While participating in the live interview, the figure climbed to ₦1.3 million. He maintains that he has not defaulted on his remittances during his eight months with the company.
The driver further alleged that the company has failed to provide any justification or breakdown for these charges.
In response, Ifeanyi Abraham, the PR Director for LAGRIDE, denied the accusations. He asserted that the company maintains a transparent system where drivers can view their account records.
Abraham stated that LAGRIDE has no record of a formal dispute matching the driver’s claims, though the firm has launched an internal investigation into the account. The company maintained that any outstanding balances result from documented operational obligations agreed upon when drivers join the platform.
