A violent confrontation between Mwaghavul youths and suspected Fulani herders in Jwak Maitumbi, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, resulted in three deaths. Security analyst Zagazola Makama noted that the incident took place on the morning of Wednesday, August 12, 2026, following a preceding disagreement between the two groups.
Military personnel from Sector 8 of Operation Enduring Peace arrived at the scene after hearing reports of continuous gunfire. By employing tactical firepower, the soldiers compelled the armed groups to retreat. Subsequent clearance operations and drone reconnaissance confirmed that the participants had vacated the vicinity.
Official reports indicate that the casualties included one local resident and two Fulani herders. An additional community member sustained injuries during the fighting. Security units remain stationed in the area to prevent further hostilities and uphold order.
