Shehu Sani, a former senator for Kaduna Central, has dismissed singer Davido’s request for United States President Donald Trump to interfere in the upcoming Osun State gubernatorial election. Sani utilized his X profile to express his disapproval shortly after the musician made his public appeal.
Sani contended that individuals hoping for Trump’s involvement in Nigerian democratic processes are misguided. He argued that the American leader has demonstrated minimal concern for the legitimacy of African elections, pointing to past situations in Uganda, Tanzania, and Cameroon as proof. According to Sani, Trump is currently preoccupied with conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, and domestic political struggles involving his party.
Previously, Davido had turned to social media to urge Trump to monitor the Osun election. The artist cited anxieties regarding potential violence, voter intimidation, and broader threats to the integrity of the voting process.
