Plymouth Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley is committed to refining the goal-scoring ability of recent acquisition Will Evans. The 29-year-old forward transferred to Home Park from Mansfield Town earlier this month on a two-year contract, which includes an option to extend for an additional season.
During his debut in a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory against Exeter City, Evans struggled to convert several promising opportunities. The Pilgrims eventually secured the win with late goals from Alex Hartridge and Bim Pepple, despite registering 21 total shots during the match. Cleverley expressed confidence that Evans’ finishing can be sharpened through training.
Cleverley praised Evans for his work rate, specifically noting his success in physical duels and his ability to make penetrating runs. While the manager acknowledged that other players also missed opportunities during the match, he emphasized that Evans possesses the necessary drive and fundamental qualities that make him a coachable asset for the squad.
