Adamawa Government to Replace 1975 Doctors Quarters

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has ordered the demolition of the 1975 Doctors Quarters in Yola to construct a new 48-unit housing estate for medical staff by 2027.

The Adamawa State Government has announced plans to tear down the residential complex known as the Doctors Quarters. Erected in 1975 to support the Specialist Hospital in Yola, the site is slated for redevelopment into a modern housing estate featuring 48 units.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri issued the demolition order on Monday. During his inspection, he stated that the current buildings are in a state of decay and no longer serve as appropriate housing for medical staff. The replacement project is intended to provide upgraded accommodations for doctors, house officers, and additional health personnel serving at the facility.

Situated on Hospital Road in Jimeta, the Specialist Hospital is undergoing significant changes as it is transformed into the teaching hospital for Adamawa State University. Governor Fintiri committed to starting construction shortly, with a goal to finish the new housing units before his tenure concludes in May 2027.
