An Irish government aircraft is currently en route to the United Arab Emirates to facilitate the extradition of Daniel Kinahan, a suspected crime leader. Kinahan, who was apprehended in Dubai following an April warrant from Irish courts, exhausted his legal challenges against the transfer.
According to RTÉ, he is anticipated to arrive in Ireland on Sunday before appearing at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin. Flightradar24 data confirms an Irish Air Corps vessel is approaching the region. Upon his arrival, authorities will initiate a significant security deployment, with Portlaoise Prison preparing enhanced accommodations.
The US government sanctioned Kinahan in 2022, identifying him as a primary figure in an international organized crime syndicate. Previously, he was associated with the boxing management firm MTK Global, which managed athletes like Tyson Fury. Prosecutors plan to charge him with directing a criminal organization. This extradition follows the recent transfer of another high-ranking group member, Sean McGovern, who received a 24-year sentence in June.
