The All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council in Osun State has leveled accusations against Governor Ademola Adeleke, claiming his supporters are engaging in vote-buying and forced oath-taking ahead of the August 15 election. According to Remi Omowaye, who chairs the APC Media Committee, the party possesses video footage showing members of the Accord Party distributing cash to residents after compelling them to swear oaths of support for the governor.
Omowaye condemned these tactics as a threat to democratic integrity, labeling them as signs of political desperation that infringe upon the rights of voters to choose freely. The APC suggests these measures indicate the governor is anxious about his prospects at the polls.
In response, Bamidele Salam, representing the Imole Campaign Council, denied any involvement by Governor Adeleke in such activities. He stated that the council is currently reviewing the validity of the videos provided by the opposition. Salam emphasized that the governor is a committed democrat who has neither authorized nor sanctioned any oath-taking rituals. He insisted that the Adeleke campaign relies on past performance and future policy goals to win public trust, maintaining that the governor does not require coercion or intimidation to secure votes from the people of Osun State.
