The Independent National Electoral Commission has decided to keep Hon. Timehin Adelegbe as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency seat. This decision holds while the party challenges a recent court ruling in the appellate courts.
The APC officially submitted a Notice of Appeal and a request to halt the enforcement of a Federal High Court judgment that had previously named Abdulghani Rotimi Arobo as the rightful candidate. A letter from the legal firm Sozo Attorneys, dated August 6, 2026, informed the electoral body that the party rejects the decision made by Justice Peter O. Lifu on August 5, 2026.
By filing for a stay of execution, the APC has requested that the commission maintain current conditions and refrain from implementing any changes until the legal dispute is concluded. An internal investigation has also been initiated by the party regarding the specific results used by the court to support the ruling in favor of Arobo. Party officials have raised concerns about the authenticity and origin of the result sheets presented during the proceedings. While these legal and factual questions are being scrutinized, the party maintains that Adelegbe remains the recognized candidate for the constituency.
