Manchester City prepared to part ways with Rodri for significant fee

Manchester City are open to selling Rodri for over £60 million as Barcelona emerges as the primary suitor for the midfielder.

Manchester City are willing to entertain offers for midfielder Rodri, provided the transfer fee exceeds £60 million. As the Spain international enters the final year of his contract without a renewal, interest from Barcelona has intensified. Reports indicate that Barcelona has received clearance from the player to initiate formal discussions with the Premier League side.

While Real Madrid previously appeared to be the frontrunner for his signature, those negotiations have reportedly concluded. Despite an initial aggressive pursuit by Real Madrid, the player ultimately opted for an alternative arrangement. The 30-year-old is currently recovering from back surgery and is expected to return to Manchester soon to rejoin his teammates.

City management aims to settle Rodri’s future promptly to secure a potential successor. While they have explored the possibility of signing 18-year-old Lille talent Ayyoub Bouaddi, the French club’s valuation of £86 million has hindered progress. Rodri has maintained a distinguished reputation, recently earning player of the tournament honors during Spain’s successful World Cup campaign.
