Kwankwaso National Network targets 2027 polls with anti-vote buying plan for South-East

The Kwankwaso National Network has launched a new initiative to combat vote buying and increase voter participation across the South-East region ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Kwankwaso National Network (KNN) has announced a comprehensive plan to eliminate vote trading and enhance voter involvement in the South-East region for the 2027 general elections. Dr. Ukpai Iro Ukpai, the regional coordinator, stated that the organization has established robust systems to safeguard the ballot and ensure election transparency.

A primary component of this strategy involves educating the public on the long-term consequences of trading votes for immediate financial gains. The group is actively encouraging citizens to prioritize the future of their communities over temporary inducements, emphasizing that electoral decisions made in 2027 will influence Nigeria’s trajectory for years to come.

To support these goals, the network is strengthening its grassroots presence at polling stations and collation centers. Their objective is to achieve an 80 percent turnout from the region’s 10 million registered voters, viewing high participation as a barrier to electoral manipulation. The group is also coordinating closely with various partners to monitor the entire voting process from accreditation to the final tally.

The KNN noted a surge in political engagement among South-East residents, largely attributed to the political partnership between Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi. This alliance has reportedly rekindled interest among previously discouraged voters. The group remains committed to securing at least one million votes per state in the region for the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, urging citizens to abandon apathy and engage actively in the democratic process.
