The Federal High Court in Lagos has initiated the process of moving its operations from the Ikoyi facility on Oyinkan Abayomi Drive to a newly finished complex at 1B Bourdillon Road. This transition, which started on July 31, 2026, aims to upgrade judicial infrastructure and provide better amenities for judges, attorneys, and the general public.
Chief Registrar Yahaya Shafa issued a public notice confirming the phased relocation. This approach is intended to maintain operational continuity and reduce interruptions to ongoing cases. Courts 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 12 are included in the initial phase, alongside key administrative offices like the Chief Registrar and the Electronic Litigation Registrar of Process.
The judiciary has requested that stakeholders, including the Nigerian Bar Association and the Lagos State government, remain updated on the phased transition. While this move signifies an improvement in the environment for legal proceedings, court users are advised to confirm the specific locations for their pending matters as the relocation continues. Additional updates regarding the remaining departments will be provided as the project advances.
