Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu has indicated that Toni Payne is the likely candidate to fill in for the suspended Jennifer Echegini during Nigeria’s upcoming WAFCON Group C match against Egypt this Wednesday.
The Nigerian squad faces lineup adjustments, as Echegini must sit out due to an accumulation of two yellow cards. Additionally, defender Oluwatosin Demehin is unavailable for selection following a red card issued in the previous game against Zambia.
During a pre-match briefing, Madugu expressed confidence in his roster. He noted that all players possess unique skills and distinct strengths. Regarding Payne, he stated that she is prepared and will have a chance to contribute to the squad given the current absences.
A victory against Egypt would significantly improve Nigeria’s prospects of advancing to the quarter-finals.
