According to Oluwo Ishola Akeem, secretary of the Oloolu compound, Olalere acknowledged that her recording violated strict customs against filming the masquerade.
Reports indicate that Olalere, who had previously attempted to film the festival last year, disguised herself as a man to record the procession during this recent event. After she posted the footage on TikTok, the family intervened to address the breach. Akeem clarified that Olalere was briefly held at a police station to ensure safety and prevent public unrest before she completed the required traditional rites.
The family representative confirmed that Olalere has since apologized, removed the content from her social media, and returned home. Akeem explicitly denied online rumors claiming that the creator had died, emphasizing that she is safe. The family continues to advocate for public respect toward the sacred customs of the Oloolu festival.
