A drone impact on a popular southern Russian beach has resulted in seven fatalities, including three children, according to regional officials. Verified footage shows the drone descending toward a cliff before exploding among tourists.
Krasnodar region governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported that 40 individuals sustained injuries, with 17 requiring hospitalization. He labeled the incident a deliberate attack on civilians, though Ukraine has remained silent on the matter and both nations maintain they do not intentionally target non-combatants.
The exact target of the drone remains unclear. Some Ukrainian channels suggest the device malfunctioned due to electronic warfare, while witnesses reported hearing gunfire before the blast, potentially indicating a failed attempt by air defenses to intercept the drone.
The incident occurred near Arkhipo-Osipovka on the Black Sea, a frequent vacation spot. Survivors described a chaotic scene, noting that no warning sirens preceded the blast. Recent months have seen Ukraine increase long-range strikes against facilities deep within Russia, particularly targeting warehouses linked to the retailer Wildberries, which Kyiv claims supports the Russian military effort. Russia continues to conduct its own frequent strikes on Ukrainian residential centers.
