Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has advocated for a stronger economic alliance between Delta and Anambra states. During the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit held in Asaba, Soludo identified the two regions as natural twin hubs capable of fostering regional advancement. He suggested establishing formal working groups to facilitate cooperation, noting that the Second Niger Bridge serves as a physical connection similar to the relationship between New York and New Jersey.
Soludo argued that both states should shift their focus from unnecessary rivalry to building productive synergies. He highlighted his efforts in Anambra to develop an aerotropolis-based industrial city and suggested that shared developmental goals could enhance regional output. The governor noted that Nigeria’s macroeconomic environment is showing signs of recovery, with improved exchange rate stability and moderating inflation, which he believes will attract necessary foreign investment.
Addressing the need for practical results, the governor urged organizers of investment summits to prioritize networking and concrete business agreements over formal speeches. He emphasized that macroeconomic progress must translate into tangible benefits for the population, such as job creation and poverty alleviation. As a strategy to stimulate local manufacturing, Soludo proposed a mandate for future summits requiring participants to wear locally produced clothing. He highlighted his own preference for Nigerian brands as a way to support domestic industries and create millions of potential jobs for the national workforce.
