DMO Launches August Federal Government Savings Bond Offerings

The Debt Management Office has introduced new two-year and three-year FGN savings bonds for August with interest rates of 13.96% and 14.96% respectively.

The Debt Management Office has officially opened subscriptions for two-year and three-year Federal Government of Nigeria savings bonds for August. The two-year bond, maturing on August 12, 2028, carries an annual interest rate of 13.96 percent. Meanwhile, the three-year bond, which matures on August 12, 2029, offers a 14.96 percent annual yield.

According to an official notice, each unit is priced at N1,000. Investors are required to purchase a minimum of N5,000 worth of bonds, with additional investments made in multiples of N1,000 up to a ceiling of N50 million. The subscription period runs from August 3 to August 7, 2026, with the official settlement scheduled for August 12, 2026. Quarterly coupon payments are set for February, May, August, and November.

These bonds are backed by the full financial authority of the Nigerian government. They are listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and serve as eligible investments for trustees. Furthermore, the bonds qualify for tax exemptions under existing income tax laws and function as liquid assets for banking liquidity calculations.
