Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory have urged security services to probe claims of forged court rulings by a faction associated with Tanimu Turaki, SAN. The group maintains that the country is governed by legal standards rather than misinformation.
The state leaders argued that this internal conflict now endangers the party’s legal standing and public stability. They have requested intervention from the party’s National Working Committee, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, and former President Goodluck Jonathan. Austin Nwachukwu, leading the forum, stated they are fulfilling a duty to protect the party’s integrity.
The forum insists that the only legitimate PDP leadership is headed by National Chairman Abdulraham Mohammed and National Secretary Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, as recognized by INEC and the courts. They have condemned the rival faction for allegedly misrepresenting court orders and using the name of Goodluck Jonathan without permission. They formally requested that the former president publicly distance himself from these individuals.
Furthermore, the group called for contempt proceedings against those they label as expelled members. They also asked security authorities to investigate the use of a facility in Garki, Abuja, which they suspect is being utilized to incite disorder. Despite these tensions, the chairmen expressed their support for the current NWC and urged party members to stay unified, emphasizing that the PDP remains a firm institution that will not be compromised by a small group of dissidents.
