African payments giant Flutterwave has secured a place on the 2025 World’s Top Fintech Companies list, an annual ranking curated by CNBC and Statista. This accolade acknowledges the firm’s persistent focus on payment innovation and its success in streamlining cross-border commerce.
For the past decade, Flutterwave has focused on bridging the gap between African enterprises and the international market. Yewande Akomolafe-Kalu, the company’s Head of Marketing, noted that the honor underscores the team’s efforts in resolving genuine financial challenges for users and businesses. This recognition arrives shortly after Flutterwave was named to the TIME100 Most Influential Companies list for 2025.
The company maintains a massive footprint, operating in over 30 countries and managing payments in more than 50 currencies. To date, it has handled over one billion transactions, totaling $50 billion in value. Through services like Send App and its business platforms, Flutterwave remains dedicated to increasing financial access.
Entering its second decade, the firm is evolving beyond basic payments. By acquiring the open banking platform Mono and obtaining a Nigerian Microfinance Banking Licence, the company is creating a unified system for banking and financial management. Supported by Ripple and Circle, Flutterwave continues to foster economic growth by simplifying global trade for African businesses.
