BudgIt Foundation Urges Tinubu Government to Publish Concrete Data

BudgIt Foundation’s Country Director, Vahyala Kwaga, has demanded that the Tinubu administration increase financial transparency by providing concrete data regarding government spending and agency operations.

The BudgIt Foundation has called on President Bola Tinubu’s administration to supply verifiable data rather than relying solely on verbal statements. Vahyala Kwaga, the organization’s Country Director, issued this challenge during a recent appearance on Arise Television while discussing the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Kwaga emphasized that citizens are entitled to transparent access to financial information from both the federal budget and the Accountant-General’s office. He argued that the public requires numerical evidence rather than brief explanations or defenses provided during legislative inquiries. Furthermore, Kwaga detailed the complex interaction between government agencies and the Budget Preparation System, noting that the Budget Office lacks total control over the Government Integrated Financial Information Management System (GIFIMS).

Highlighting systemic gaps, Kwaga noted that the Head of Service has previously acknowledged existing loopholes within the administrative framework. He pointed out that both the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Budget Office hold key oversight responsibilities for managing these government entities.
