During a trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja, Ahmed Gbigbadua, an investigator with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), stated that land agent Rebecca Omokamo failed to provide ownership documentation for three plots she allegedly sold to buyers. Both Omokamo and Godwin-Isaac are facing charges related to land grabbing and fraud, yet they were unable to verify their claims to the properties in question.
The prosecution alleges that Omokamo participated in forgery and money laundering regarding land in Guzape and the Katampe District. Gbigbadua explained that the investigation began following a petition from the law firm of Femi Falana, SAN, on behalf of Colleen Yesufu. Evidence presented to Justice Joyce Abdulmalik suggests that the true owners of the Katampe plots are May Estate Agency, Fafan Agency Limited, and Adamu Ayinloda Estate Company, who possess valid Rights of Occupancy.
Gbigbadua testified that Shaka Braimah secured the legal title documents from the FCT Department of Land Administration. Despite questioning by authorities, neither Omokamo nor her co-defendants—including Homadil Realty Limited and Rychado Homes Limited—could present any deed of assignment or power of attorney to support their activities. Instead, they reportedly issued unauthorized receipts to buyers.
Separately, FCT official Abdulhamid Wundil acknowledged during cross-examination that a 2007 authorization letter issued to Shaka Braimah could not be located, though he noted it may have been misplaced over the years. Justice Abdulmalik rejected an EFCC request to remand Omokamo in custody, noting she has consistently attended court sessions as required. The trial is scheduled to resume on October 26, 2026.
