Securing this transfer would establish Manzambi as the most expensive signing in Aston Villa’s history, exceeding the £50 million fee paid for Amadou Onana in 2024.
The club is prioritizing midfield reinforcements as Youri Tielemans engages in discussions regarding a potential transfer to Manchester United. Additionally, Amadou Onana faces an extended recovery period following an ACL injury sustained during the World Cup. Manzambi has gained significant attention across Europe following a stellar tournament performance, where he recorded three goals and two assists. This feat made him the youngest player since 1966 to log five goal involvements in a single World Cup.
Champions League football remains a primary draw for the midfielder, providing Villa with a competitive edge. Manzambi previously encountered the squad during the UEFA Europa League final in May, which ended in a 3-0 victory for Unai Emery’s side. To maintain compliance with UEFA financial regulations, Villa is also preparing for the departure of left-back Lucas Digne, who is nearing a return to Paris Saint-Germain, and the sale of Lewis Dobbin to Southampton for approximately £9 million.
