Kidnapped Oyo PDP Chieftain Akika Released
Benedict Akiika, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, has been released after being abducted from his Idi-Ape residence in Olorunda Aaba by gunmen on September 4.
According to a statement from SP Osifeso Adewale, spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Akiika was freed following a rigorous manhunt by the Command’s tactical, intelligence, and operational teams.
The search and rescue mission extended across multiple locations, including Ijagun and Ijebu Ode in Ogun State, Ore in Ondo State, and finally Uselu in Edo State.
Adewale confirmed that Akiika was released late on the evening of Wednesday, September 11, and is currently receiving medical care before reuniting with his family.
The police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the criminal network responsible for the kidnapping. They are also calling on residents to assist the ongoing investigation by providing timely and credible information.
The Oyo State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to preventing the state from becoming a haven for criminal activity.
