TCN Schedules Maintenance Work at Katampe Substation

TCN has announced a temporary power outage for several Abuja neighborhoods on Saturday due to planned maintenance at the Katampe Transmission Substation.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), specifically its Abuja Region division, has scheduled essential maintenance for the Katampe 132/33kV Transmission Substation. This operation will occur this Saturday, running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs for TCN, explained that the work involves servicing the 100MVA 132/33kV power transformer, known as TR1, along with its related switchgear and auxiliary components. This routine care is necessary to keep equipment functioning at its best.

Because of this work, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) must halt bulk power intake during these hours. As a result, residents in areas including Maitama, Mpape, Jahi, Life Camp, Idu-Karmo, and Kado Fish Market will experience power interruptions. TCN has expressed regret for the disruption to these customers.
