Kano Hisbah Board detains man for human trafficking attempt

Kano Hisbah officials arrested Bala Haruna for allegedly attempting to traffic two girls to Arab countries for domestic labor.

Kano State Hisbah Board officials have taken 25-year-old Bala Haruna into custody. He is accused of trying to traffic two females to Middle Eastern nations for house help positions.

Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, the Deputy Commander-General of the agency, announced on Friday that the capture occurred at a local motor park on Thursday. The suspect was intercepted while trying to transport the girls out of Kano.

Haruna, a resident of Jigawa State’s Kazaure Local Government Area, was found with 23-year-old Fatima Safiyanu from Katsina State and 11-year-old Hasiya Haruna from Jigawa State. Authorities are currently looking into the logistics of his plan to ensure proper legal measures are applied.

The agency has transferred the case to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). Dr. Aminuddeen cautioned families and the public to remain vigilant against recruitment scams promising domestic jobs overseas, stressing the need for thorough verification before accepting such offers.
