Plateau Police Detain 25 Individuals Following Raids on Drug Hubs in Jos

A joint security operation in Jos led to the arrest of 25 individuals and the seizure of illegal drugs at identified narcotics hotspots.

Law enforcement officials in Plateau State conducted a sweep of known narcotics distribution points in Jos, resulting in the apprehension of 25 people. The operation centered on the Fwavei and Old Airport junctions, locations the authorities have identified as primary sites for the trafficking of illicit substances.

SP Alfred Alabo, the police spokesperson, confirmed that the tactical maneuver occurred Saturday at roughly 7:55 p.m. A combined security force executed the raid, comprising members from the Violence Crime Response Unit, the Anti-Cybercrime and Narcotic Unit, the Anglo-Jos Division, the Monitoring Unit, and the Eagle Eye Patrol Team.

During the arrests, police confiscated various illegal items, including cannabis and restricted pharmaceutical products. Officials are now processing the detainees to assess their individual roles and investigate potential ties to broader criminal organizations. Commissioner of Police Bassey Ewah expressed his approval of the operation, highlighting the force’s dedication to curbing drug-related criminal activity across the region.
